On the morning of September 11, 2011, four US passengers air carries were hijacked and crashed to three different locations: two to North and South Tower of World Trade Centre, one to the Pentagon, and one to Washington D.C but crashed earlier in Pennsylvania. The whole tragedy referred as the September 11 attacks or 9/11 attacks.
A memorial museum was built on the Ground Zero of the collapsed World Trade Centre. The whole complex consist of two memorial ponds, the museum, and the new WTC: One World Trade Centre. Both memorial ponds are framed with victims name inscribed around.
Do not mistaken this memorial museum with 9/11 Tribute Centre and Walking Tour. The one in the complex containing objects related with the tragedy such as the wrecked fire trucks, part of the former WTC building, salvaged personal things of victims, etc. On the other hand, the tribute centre tells personal story from the victim’s family side or those who really were there experienced the incident. The city pass I used to visited Liberty Statue and natural history museum can be used to the tribute centre but not to the memorial museum. Sine I wanted to visited memorial museum, I bought the ticket directly there which costed $24. The complete price list can be seen here: https://goo.gl/ujiPTN.
The museum is very intriguing and touching. There are several areas where picture is not allowed but I recommend this museum to be on your itinerary list. You can really feel emotion there.
The museum open daily from 09:00 to 20:00 on Sunday to Thursday and 09:00 to 21:00 on Friday and Saturday. To get here you can walk from the Trinity Church nearby Wall Street complex where you can actually lead yourself by seeing the tower of One World Trade Centre from afar.
